UPM BioVerno is a responsible choice

UPM BioVerno makes it possible to achieve a remarkable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional fossil diesel. Our biofuels are derived from forest industry residues, which allows us to utilise wood materials with maximum efficiency. Unlike traditional biofuels, UPM BioVerno is derived from non-food materials instead of wasting food crops.
UPM utilises the entire lifecycle of wood materials when producing alternative biofuels for the future. Our goal is to build a more sustainable future.

Renewable biofuel production

Renewable wood
Material efficiency and renewability are key aspects of the UPM BioVerno production process. UPM BioVerno is derived from wood-based tall oil using hydrotreatment. This innovative production process was developed by UPM.

Crude tall oil is a natural wood extract, mainly from coniferous trees, gained as a residue of pulp production. Hence, it should be noted that no additional harvesting is required to produce UPM BioVerno. Tall oil is a renewable resource, which means that it offers significant environmental benefits compared to fossil fuels.
UPM is a pioneer of the changing forest industry, and we are striving to make even more efficient use of our wood-based raw materials.

UPM biofuels are produced using a proprietary, innovative production process.
