Before joining us, Ville worked in Nordea investment banking and in the UPM M&A team (mergers and acquisitions). Ville’s responsibilities include providing insight and information to business steering. Because of this he and his team have great visibility throughout the organization.

What inspires you in working at UPM Biofuels?
Having a talented team and colleagues drives me to excel and develop myself. Acknowledging that we play a role in the global shift from fossil fuels to more sustainable solutions provides me with an extra boost.
How would you describe the biofuels business?
It’s dynamic and requires wide understanding from high-end technology to different feedstock markets. In addition, regulation is a significant enabler for the business so I guess it does not harm to understand a bit of political drivers as well.
How’s the athmosphere at UPM Biofuels?
Collaborative, supportive and open-minded. I feel that everybody can easily share their ideas and people are encouraged to take initiative and have a positive impact. I have felt warmly welcomed to the team, and looking back now, it could not have been made easier for me to settle in to my new role. Every colleague has put on effort to make my start in the business as smooth as possible.
Good to hear! How do you relax outside of work?
Football provides me with a good balance to office work, but I also see several similarities between these two. After all, it is all about team work and achieving good results together.
