Over the past 15 years the Platts Global Energy Awards have honoured and recognised companies who have demonstrated excellence in leadership, innovation and performance in the energy industry. Awards are given in five categories: Strategic Vision, Industry Leadership, Stewardship, Premier Projects and Leading Technologies.
This year UPM Biofuels is nominated as a finalist in the Sustainable Innovation category of the Leading Technology Award 2014. This award focuses on the research, development and commercialisation of new technologies. The judging criteria are innovation, commercial viability and sustainability in bringing renewable fuel technologies to the market.
Finalists were chosen from a list of nearly 250 nominations by an independent panel of judges including former regulators, past heads of major energy companies, leading academics and international energy experts. The company which, in the opinion of the judges, has made the most advances in saving, making or cleaning up energy will get the prize.
