Fire at UPM Lappeenranta Biorefinery

We had a fire at UPM Lappeenranta Biorefinery in the morning after 5 o’clock on May 10th 2021. There was a leakage in the process which caused the fire, and it spread to the roof constructions of the Biorefinery. Fire departments were able to put out the fire by 6 o’clock and the situation was under control early in the morning. There were no injuries to any personnel.

South Karelian fire department got an automated fire alarm at 5.07 o’clock. In addition to Lappeenranta fire department, there were several local fire departments putting out the fire.
